Kristin J. McNamara focuses her practice on strategic portfolio management and worldwide patent prosecution in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical arts. She also specializes in product clearances and due diligence analyses. With extensive experience as an in-house counsel, Kristin strives to guide her clients in achieving their business objectives in a practical and cost-effective way.
Over the course of her intellectual property career, Kristin has worked across all phases of patent law, including drafting and prosecution, client counseling, licensing, and litigation, as well as preparing and defending against third party submissions and post-grant challenges in both the US and Europe. This broad experience on both the innovator and generic side has allowed Kristin to develop a holistic view on portfolio management designed to maintain a competitive edge. She is particularly skilled in leveraging an IP portfolio for both offensive and defensive purposes. Kristin also values the procedural aspects of patent practice and has extensive experience in explaining the nuances of the US system to IP practitioners, scientists, and business professionals trained in other legal systems.
Prior to joining McNeill Baur PLLC, Kristin spent over a decade as an in-house counsel with Novozymes, including on-site experience in both the US and at the company’s headquarters in Europe. Prior to Novozymes, Kristin gained valuable life sciences IP experience with several firms in New York, first as a patent agent and then as an attorney.
